About Magda Olchawska
Inclusive education. Conscious storytelling. Sustainable impact.
I’m Magda Olchawska, a neurodiverse filmmaker, writer, and educator working at the intersection of film, video art, writing, education, and sustainability. My multidisciplinary practice is rooted in socially conscious storytelling and shaped by my neurodiverse way of experiencing the world.
Storytelling is at the heart of everything I do. Whether I’m capturing overlooked narratives, amplifying diverse voices, or creating accessible creative spaces, I believe in the power of stories to connect, empower, and transform. I’m especially passionate about using immersive storytelling and inclusive education to support individuals and communities in expressing their truths.
My creative process is slow, intuitive, and deeply reflective. I allow ideas to evolve organically, often drawing from my childhood under a communist regime, where practical skills like knitting and gardening were essential for survival. These early experiences now serve as metaphors in my work, symbolising resilience, adaptability, and care.
After completing my MA in Public Art and Performance in 2023, my practice expanded beyond filmmaking and writing to include participatory and site-specific projects. This evolution has enabled me to tell stories in more inclusive and participatory ways, while embracing my neurodiverse perspective as a creative strength.
Like a river, my practice is constantly shaped and reshaped by the stories, environments, and communities I engage with. Through my work, I aim to inspire others to explore their own voices, challenge norms, and imagine more sustainable, inclusive futures.
